  • Our Franciscan Identity

    San Francesco d'Assisi

St. Francis is like the root of an ever growing plant that incessantly produces fruits of sanctity. From the beginning till today, his vivifying spirit continues to move men and women of every social status, nationality and culture to follow in his footsteps.  In the course of the centuries, the various reforms within the large Franciscan family, comparable to branches of a single tree, have continually proposed a return to the roots according to the sensibility and the necessities of their time.

  • Traccia Mariana

FondatoriAt the onset of the third millennium, the Franciscans of the Immaculate come to light as a response to the decree “Perfectae Caritatis,” which invited religious to “return to the sources.” Besides the “Regula Bullata” of the First Order of the Friars Minor, the Franciscan Friars of the Immaculate profess its Marian expression:  the “Traccia Mariana” (Marian form of Franciscan life).

  • The Portiuncula

    La Porziuncola in Assisi

It is within the “Porziuncula” of St. Mary of the Angels where the Seraphic Order draws its roots, claiming as its own the “Cause of the Immaculate.” St. Maximilian M. Kolbe, with his Cities of the Immaculate, constitutes in our times, one of the genuine fruits of that entirely Marian and Seraphic roots.

  • Spiritual Heritage

San Massimiliano KolbeThe figure and apostolate of St. Maximilian M. Kolbe is a spiritual hereditary which the Franciscans of the Immaculate (Friars, Sisters and laity) have fully inherited. With their Marian Vow of unlimited consecration to the Immaculate, they commit themselves to bring Christ to the world: through contemplation and action, word and example, in imitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the first missionary of the Gospel.

Shrines, Parishes, Missions

Wherever they find themselves – in the missions, in Marian shrines and parishes – the Franciscans of the Immaculate seek to promote these realities by means of the internet.  It is with this objective that various websites regarding specific missions were born, as well as a few sites relating to some of the Shrines and Marian Houses maintained by the Franciscans of the Immaculate, such as the sites presented below.

Marymediatrix.com: This website, completely in English, is that of the American Delegation of the Franciscan Friars of the Immaculate (also including the friars’ mission in Australia.)  It is one of the first sites that the religious order published and is continuously updated with news on the activities of the friars and sisters within this Region, as well as with articles of formation, current events and various other topics. Through this website the online shop of the Publishing House "Academy of the Immaculate" can also be accessed.

Indiamariae.com: This site, also completely in English, is managed by our Indian Mission. It provides information on the activities of the missionaries, on the works of the apostolate and on formation activities.

Franciscans of the Immaculate: This website, completely in English, is that of the Franciscan Sisters of the Immaculate located in the United States and Australia.  It aims to make known to the English-speaking world the beautiful reality of this new "bouquet of flowers", formed in 1994 in the garden of the Church.

nslegrazie.it: Presented in Italian, this website is maintained by the friars who take care of the Shrine of Our Lady of Grace near La Spezia, in Liguria, Italy. It provides information on the ancient shrine and its icon of Our Lady, as well as on the local activities of the friars.

Parrocchiaportovenere.it: is the website of the Parish of Sts. Peter and Lawrence in Portovenere (La Spezia), maintained for some years now by the Franciscans of the Immaculate at the friary of Le Grazie (La Spezia). The parish is located in one of the most beautiful landscapes of Italy and is a sought after tourist destination. Many are those (from Italy and abroad) who choose the Church of St. Peter for their wedding on account of its amazing view. The parish also extends to the neighbouring island of Palmaria. The site provides various information regarding the local area, the friars, pastoral activities, with special care given to weddings. The video and photo galleries are worth a visit.

Franciscanosdelainmaculada.com: this site is that of the Argentine mission of the Franciscans of the Immaculate, a mission currently headed by P. Isidoro M. Cypres.  Offered only in Spanish as an editorial choice, it offers information on the Institute as well as on the activities of the Mission and the Parish associated with it.  A must are the video and photo galleries, which capture the activity of the mission and of the Institute itself.  As we await the availability of the portal "immacolata.com" in Spanish, the site in question is a good first approach for Spanish speakers who desire to know more about the spirituality of the Franciscans of the Immaculate.
